Meet Pure Origin’s first Textile Designer – Milena Zdravkova
Pure Origin is constantly evolving and our list of exhibiting manufacturers and fabric suppliers continues to grow. For the July show, we’re also very excited to introduce our first Textile Designer, Milena Zdravkova.
Growing up in Bulgaria, Milena found her artistic calling at 12 years old and continued to pursue it when she went to university. Studying art, she specialised in Textile Art and graduated with an MA degree from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia.
I had the opportunity to meet with Milena during our AW18/19 show to learn more about her process and vision. Milena tells me all about how she likes to combine digital tools and traditional techniques such as acrylics and pencils. Her desired categories to work in are of course textile, clothing and accessories and she tries to use recycled materials and hand dyed fabrics whenever she can. When it comes to her inspiration she said, “I find my inspiration from travelling, my dreams, my emotions, and the work itself is the main inspiration”.
Print created for Pure Origin by Milena Zdravkova
Milena’s artwork has already been showcased at exhibitions in Bulgaria, Denmark and the UK. For the July show Milena has created a print specifically for Pure Origin and she explains to me why Pure Origin is the ideal place to showcase her pieces, “It’s a great venue to meet so many influential people and I’m excited to showcase my surface pattern designs to buyers”.The fact that Pure Origin just happens to be hosted in London is only a bonus and Milena describes the city to be “challenging and very motivational”.
